3G's share of mobile connections (excluding M2M) will peak at only 35% in 2017, as China moves quickly to 4G.

The mobile market in emerging Asia–Pacific still has room for considerable growth during the next 5 years because penetration stood at less than 80% of the population in 2014. Mobile voice service revenue will peak in 2015 as the focus shifts towards data services. Mobile handset data services will be the single largest driver of revenue growth in the region, followed by fixed and mobile broadband services.

This Report provides:

  • an interim update of our 5-year forecast of more than 100 mobile and fixed KPIs for emerging Asia–Pacific, based on the latest available data

  • an explanation of the significant changes in this edition, compared with our previous forecast.
