Heating alone just isn't enough to dissolve such a big molecule, so plastics should often be of practically an identical composition to mix efficiently. When different types of plastics are melted collectively, they have a tendency to phase-separate, like oil and water, and set in these layers. The section boundaries trigger structural weak point in the resulting material, that means that polymer blends are helpful in solely limited applications.
