X-Ray, are electromagnetic radiations something like visible light. The x-ray machine sends out rays through the body and a computer records the images captured by the machine. Solid structures like bones are captured as white since they do not allow the light to pass through. Muscle, fluids and fat will appear grey while air spaces within structures will show up black.

To have an x-ray taken you would have to visit the radiology department of the hospital or an office with the x-ray machine available. Depending on what you need the x-ray off; you would have to position the machine accordingly. The patient or person to take an x-ray at most times are asked to hold their breath or not move for a second since movement may cause a blurry image. There are no risks involved in taking the x-ray test. At the same time there is no discomfort or feeling that the patient will experience while taking the x-ray.
