London Transport's Oyster card system remains primarily a contactless pre-paid travelcard. Two different cities have implemented functioning digital money systems. Very similar to Hong Kong's Octopus card, Singapore has an electronic cash program for its public transportation system (commuter trains, bus, etc.), primarily based on the same kind of (FeliCa) system.

Numerous electronic cash methods use contactless payment switch in order to facilitate straightforward cost and give the payee more confidence in not letting go of their digital pockets through the transaction.
