Turkey Infrastructure Report Q3 2016

Publisher Name :
Date: 03-Sep-2016
No. of pages: 67

BMI View: Turkey continues to offer investors a hugely diverse - if risky - portfolio of infrastructure

opportunities, as the government continues to support the privatisation of assets and the use of PPPs. That

said, significant macroeconomic headwinds centred around currency depreciation, tightening credit and

political risk will drag on sentiment in the non-residential sector in particular.

Latest Updates And Structural Trends

? We have maintained our view for tepid growth in the Turkish construction sector in 2016 and 2017,

despite the industry slightly outperforming our expectations in 2015. We forecast real construction

industry growth of 2.8% in 2016 and 3.9% in 2017.

? Rail and road projects continue to see our forecasts for transport infrastructure growth remain buoyant at

4.8% in 2016. However, energy and utilities infrastructure growth has been lowered for 2016 on the back

of the uncertainty surrounding Turkey's nuclear programme. Rosatom is reportedly looking to sell a 49%

stake in the project.

? The Turkish healthcare PPP projects continue to be a favoured infrastructure segments in Turkey and is a

key supporting factor in our non-residential building outlook. In January 2016, the USD1.18bn Etlik

Integrated Healthcare Campus project in Ankara reached financial close.

  • Kazakhstan Insurance Report Q1 2017
Published: 30-Nov-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 54
BMI View: Kazakhstan's insurance market will remain beyond the radar of the major multinational insurers. Indigenous companies, the majority of which are subsidiaries of local financial services groups, continue to dominate the market, resulting in high barriers to entry. Meanwhile, the historical lack of demand for life insurance and other discretionary insurance products has restricted the development of many lines outside of the core motor and property segments. As suc......
  • Singapore Insurance Report Q1 2017
Published: 30-Nov-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 54
BMI View: Singapore's non-life segment is dominated by coverage of commercial risks outside the city state. We remain of the view that the economic headwinds facing the ASEAN region should diminish through 2017 and that non-life premium growth will accelerate. We believe that the life segment will continue to achieve steady growth through the forecast period, thanks to innovation by the insurers in a wealthy country with a structurally high rate of savings. Latest U......
  • Slovakia Insurance Report Q1 2017
Published: 30-Nov-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 66
BMI View: The Slovakian insurance market is relatively small when measured in total volumes of premiums written. Nevertheless, it remains one of the more positive Central and Eastern European regional markets. Premiums are expected to rise and the life segment is expected to post significant growth, supported by an uptick in household incomes. However, the market is vulnerable to regional economic decline, particularly weakness throughout the eurozone, and currency moveme......
  • Bahamas Insurance Report Q1 2017
Published: 30-Nov-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 44
BMI View: We extend our generally favourable outlook for the Bahamas insurance sector in our quarterly report. The non-life sector is poised to outperform the mature-yet-stable life sector. The overall insurance density in the Bahamas is now higher than USD2,126 per capita in 2017, and insurance premiums are about 8.1% of GDP, leading us to the conclusion that the sector as a whole is rather well developed. Looking forward into 2017 and beyond, we believe that rising inco......
  • Egypt Insurance Report Q1 2017
Published: 30-Nov-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 54
BMI View: We have made significant forecast revisions in this quarter's latest Q1 2017 report update. The severe currency devaluation undertaken by the Central Bank has resulted in a 48% devaluation of the Eqyptian pound against the US dollar as part of an IMF proposed plan for Egypt to acquire USD13bn in loan funding. Our entire forecast outlook has changed from 2017 onwards as US dollar denominated premiums will get hit significantly harder than previously estimated thi......

Published: 23-Nov-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 42
BMI View: The insurance industry in Côte d'Ivoire is experiencing rapid growth, with both the life and non-life sectors developing quickly, albeit from a very low base. Tailwinds for growth include a gradual improvement in household income rates, the development of a broader range of products being made available to potential consumers and the expansion of distribution channels which in the past have relied heavily upon brokers and agents. Structural challenges are signif......
  • Honduras Insurance Report Q1 2017
Published: 23-Nov-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 53
BMI View: While currently one of the least-developed markets in the Latin America region, Honduras' insurance sector will continue its steady growth trajectory through 2020 amid robust growth across the wider economy. While Honduras is home to a number of large and well-entrenched regional and multinational provide, longstanding challenges will continue to constrain their ability to grow their business. BMI View: We maintain our positive outlook for the Iranian insurance sector in the latest Q1 2017 report update. Sanctions relief is set to boost the Iranian insurance market overall as household incomes growth will contribute to growth in the life, motor and health lines which dominate the market. Minor lines will also grow, but from a very modestly low base. Sustained growth and market development will require foreign capital and expertise. An end to sanctions - apart f......
