Spain Oil and Gas Report Q3 2013

Publisher Name :
Date: 05-Jun-2013
No. of pages: 95

BMI View: The pace of economic recovery and renewed growth is critical to Spain's energy market, as it
will drive the country's demand for oil and natural gas - virtually all of which is imported. Spain is a key
conduit for gas pipelines from Algeria and is a major receiver of liquefied natural gas (LNG), an area
where further capacity expansion is possible once the economic outlook improves. Shale gas could
potentially offer improved self-sufficiency, but is unlikely to revolutionise the energy outlook. Meanwhile,
Repsol has started to undergo a strategic shake-up following the Argentine government's privatisation of its
YPF unit.
The main trends and developments we highlight in Spain's oil and gas sector are:
? Due to a change in historical data from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) and the modest
Spanish Oil consumption outlook we have lowered our 10-year Crude Oil consumption forecasts.
According to the EIA, Spain is estimated to have consumed 1.29mn b/d in 2012 and we expect demand to
average 1.34mn b/d in 2017, increasing further to 1.40mn b/d by 2022. No meaningful local oil supply is
available, meaning crude imports will reach at least 1.31mn b/d by 2017 and 1.38mn b/d by 2022.

  • Bolivia Oil and Gas Report Q2 2016
Published: 10-Feb-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 85
BMI View: Upstream investment in Bolivia continues at steady levels, but weak reserves of both oil and gas have persisted, creating long-term uncertainty for production and exports. The fall in global oil prices has led to sharp reductions in earnings from oil-indexed gas sales to Argentina and Brazil, on whom Bolivia is entirely dependent for exports. Continued investment in projects to monetise domestic gas resources as through increased local consumption in the residen......
  • China Oil and Gas Report Q2 2016
Published: 10-Feb-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 161
BMI View: We maintain our bearish outlook on China's long-term crude oil and liquids production, as low oil prices continue to prompt the country's largest producers to cut spending and pare back high-cost production. The outlook for gas is more positive, with greater exploitation of China's vast unconventionals potential and introduction of several policies in favour of gas-use expected to lead an uptrend in both gas production and consumption through to 2025. Despite ma......
  • New Zealand Oil and Gas Report Q2 2016
Published: 10-Feb-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 67
BMI View: Limited scope for new oil and gas will maintain the long-term downtrend in New Zealand's hydrocarbon production over the next 10 years. Declining gas production is a particular concern as the country does not have any gas import infrastructure to make up for diminishing local volumes via imports. New Zealand will remain a net importer of crude oil owing to falling domestic production, a slowdown in exploration due to low oil prices and rising run rates at its re......
  • Russia Oil and Gas Report Q2 2016
Published: 10-Feb-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 178
BMI View: Oil production outperformed in 2015, but will decline from 2016 as tax changes and sanctions limit upstream development. Gas production, which underperformed in 2015, will improve as domestic and foreign demand pick up. The main trends and developments we highlight for Russia's oil & gas sector are: ? 2015 crude and condensate production averaged a post-Soviet high of 10.716mn b/d. We forecast production to fall slightly in 2016. ? Crude and condensa......
  • Sudan and South Sudan Oil and Gas Report Q2 2016
Published: 10-Feb-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 82
BMI View: A weak security environment and stuttering peace process will continue to depress crude production in South Sudan in 2016. In the longer term, the upside risks are substantial; however, chronic underinvestment, extensive damage to infrastructure and persistent instability will dampen any prospective recovery in output. The outlook on Sudan is also relatively bearish, due to the weak investment climate, uncertain political outlook and pervasive security threats. ......
  • Turkey Oil and Gas Report Q2 2016
Published: 10-Feb-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 93
BMI View: Turkey will continue to increase its consumption of crude oil, natural gas and refined fuels throughout our forecast period, which goes as far as 2020, remaining a net importer of all three. Positive exploration results in the Thrace Basin present upside risk to our gas production forecast. The main trends and developments we highlight for Turkey's oil and gas sector are: ? With Russian-Turkish relations in a precarious state, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has ......
  • Azerbaijan Oil and Gas Report Q2 2016
Published: 03-Feb-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 99
BMI View: Our outlook on Azeri oil is heavily bearish, with the major ACG fields falling deeper into decline. Investments to stabilise output will help soften the fall; however, with a lack of new discoveries brought online this will be insufficient to reverse the overall trend. In contrast, we remain bullish on the prospects for Azeri gas, underpinned by large-scale new production from Shah Deniz. Prospects on the downstream remain poor, with ageing and low complexity in......
  • Chad Oil and Gas Report Q2 2016
Published: 03-Feb-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 58
BMI View: The ramping up of production from Glencore and China National Petroleum Corporation's new fields will support production increases in 2016 and 2017. Post 2017 there will be a gradual decline in output as a poor project pipeline is unable to offset the falling production rates at the mature Doba field. Despite large proven reserves and pipeline infrastructure in place, BMI believes that the poor business environment and extraction problems that the consortium is ......
  • Japan Oil and Gas Report Q2 2016
Published: 03-Feb-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 82
BMI View: We retain our bearish outlook towards Japan's long-term refined fuels and natural gas demand, which we forecast to fall by 7.1% and 3.5% over 2016-2025. This decrease will be a result of the gradual return of nuclear generation in the power sector, efficiency gains in the automotive and shipping sectors, as well as increasing emphasis on alternative energy sources such as renewables and biofuels. Latest Updates And Key Forecasts: ? Challenges in the domest......
