South Africa Tourism Report Q3 2013

Publisher Name :
Date: 26-Jun-2013
No. of pages: 75

Since the last quarterly report, South Africa's Department of Tourism has released final tourist arrivals

figures for 2012. These showed overseas (i.e. non-African) arrivals growth of 15.1%, to reach 2,505,762.

Including African arrivals, total arrivals stood at 9,188,368, up by 10.2% y-o-y.

These strong arrivals figures bear out BMI's continued optimism towards the South African tourism sector

at present. Our forecasts currently call for 9% growth in arrivals over 2013, and a further 36% increase in

arrivals over the 2013-17 period, to reach almost 13.3mn total arrivals.

  • Brazil Tourism Report Q3 2016
Published: 27-Apr-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 28
BMI View: The next quarter will be a key one for Brazil's tourism market, which will expect the bulk of arrivals and receipts to be centred around the Rio Olympic Games in August. However, after this event we forecast a period of stagnation for the industry, with a post-event lull combining with domestic economic weakness to lower demand and investment. Key Updates And Forecasts: ? We forecast tourist arrivals to grow by 7.4% in 2016, bolstered by the Olympics, befo......
  • China Tourism Report Q3 2016
Published: 27-Apr-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 49
BMI View: The outlook for China's tourism industry is very positive. As well as a huge domestic travel market, China is also attracting growing volumes of international visitors and extensive government investment in transport infrastructure means tourism is reaching the further reaches of the country, as well as established travel hubs. While there are some potential downside risks to our current forecasts, namely a sharper economic decline in the domestic economy along ......
  • Costa Rica Tourism Report Q3 2016
Published: 27-Apr-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 31
BMI View: Costa Rica will experience a positive year for the tourism industry in 2016, with strong arrivals growth buoyed up by improving arrivals from the US, the country's key market. While we expect tourism arrivals and hotel growth to decline towards the end of the forecast period, we do not believe this undermines the fundamental attractiveness of Costa Rica's tourism industry. Key Updates And Forecasts: ? Arrivals from North America are now forecast to rise by......
  • Czech Republic Tourism Report Q3 2016
Published: 27-Apr-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 30
BMI View: The Czech Republic tourist market remains small but well established. The Czech capital city of Prague is home to a multitude of attractions and has long remained popular as a short break and city break destination for visitors from neighbouring countries and across Western Europe. Looking forward, arrivals from Asian and Middle Eastern source markets will bolster the Czech tourism industry; however, over the short term, economic weaknesses in key European sourc......
  • Mexico Tourism Report Q2 2016
Published: 27-Apr-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 30
BMI View: Mexico's tourism sector will grow by 4.6% in 2016, reflecting stronger economic growth north of the border in the US and steady arrivals from Europe. However, we caution that the outbreak of the Zika virus in late 2015 could have a deterrent effect on 2016 arrivals. Key Updates And Forecasts ? North American arrivals to Mexico will pick up to 5.29% in 2016, after previous estimates of a decline in 2016. This will have positive implications for overall arri......

BMI View: Poland has a relatively well-established tourism industry, supported by a growing business travel sector and robust domestic tourism market. The country benefits from a positive location in between key source markets in Europe and has an extensive transport network, including cross-border road and rail connections and growing air travel capacity. The hotel market has undergone significant expansion in recent years, benefiting from Poland's openness to foreign in......
  • Turkey Tourism Report Q2 2016
Published: 27-Apr-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 28
BMI View: Turkey, as a traditionally very popular destination for holiday makers, has a well-developed tourism sector. Most of the major international hotel groups have a significant presence in the country and this is complimented by an assortment of strong domestic groups. Although growth is forecast for inbound tourism over the coming years, the sector does face threats from continued terrorist activity and political difficulties with Russia, a major source market. Pos......
  • Botswana Tourism Report Q3 2016
Published: 20-Apr-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 32
BMI View: Botswana's tourism industry has experienced a difficult two years following the ebola virus and difficult economic conditions in key source markets. Hotel and travel infrastructure remains underdeveloped, and there is serious competition from major Southern African neighbours such as South Africa. The country needs to keep supporting the tourism industry by encouraging international flights and hotel development, as well as increasing marketing efforts in order ......
