Singapore Oil and Gas Report Q3 2013

Publisher Name :
Date:5-Jun-2013
No. of pages: 90

BMI View: Petrochemicals and refining remain the lifeblood of Singapore, with strong regional demand
growth meaning there is potential for capacity expansion – although investment in countries such as China
and Vietnam has led to increasingly fierce competition. Growing gas demand means liquefied natural gas
imports are needed to augment pipeline volumes from Indonesia and Malaysia.
The main trends and developments we highlight in the Singaporean Oil & Gas sector are:
? Singapore’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal, expected to be ready in Q213, will be
expanded to ensure it can meet all of the island-state’s gas demand, raising the possibility that existing
pipeline gas supply contracts with Malaysia and Indonesia may not be renewed. Chee Hong Tat, the chief
executive of Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA), told an industry conference on March 5 2012
that the government would ‘ensure sufficient capacity to import LNG to meet all of [Singapore's] gas
demand’.

  • Azerbaijan Oil and Gas Report Q4 2014
Published: 20-Aug-2014        Price: US $1295 Onwards        Pages: 136
BMI View: The outlook for Azerbaijan's upstream sector is broadly bullish, with a substantial increase in the country's natural gas production offsetting a longer-term decline in oil output. We are more bearish on the downstream, and do not believe that forecast global refined fuels demand-supply dynamics will support the country's planned refinery upgrade and expansion projects. Key trends we highlight for Azerbaijan's oil and gas sector: ? The country boasts substantial, prospective and undere......
  • Turkmenistan Oil and Gas Report Q4 2014
Published: 20-Aug-2014        Price: US $1295 Onwards        Pages: 116
BMI View: Turkmenistan's growing gas reserves have the country's energy profile on a positive trajectory, as reflected by our forecasts for strong growth in gas production over the coming years. Our forecast for gas production to reach 108.8bcm per annum by 2018 implies an average growth rate of 7.4% per annum. The country's rising potential is supporting a significant strengthening of ties with China, with whom it shares the China-Central Asia Pipeline, which is slated to provide approximately ......

Published: 20-Aug-2014        Price: US $1295 Onwards        Pages: 118
BMI View: Notwithstanding concerns about political risks following expropriations, Bolivia has benefited from robust upstream investment in recent quarters that has boosted the outlook for the oil and gas sector. Gas production is expected to grow over the duration of the forecast period, but we expect gains in output to from 2018 and reserves remain worryingly low. The outlook for liquids is less optimistic, with investment focused on gas, higher condensate output will boost overall output but ......
  • Venezuela Oil and Gas Report Q4 2014
Published: 20-Aug-2014        Price: US $1295 Onwards        Pages: 138
BMI View: Despite vast upstream potential and ambitious plans of the state-owned oil company PdVSA, we retain a cautious outlook for Venezuela's oil and gas sector. We expect Venezuela to continue its underperformance given the scale of challenges, such as political interference, chronic underinvestment, unattractive operating environment and precarious financial situation of PdVSA. Key developments this quarter: ? In April 2014, Venezuela's state-owned Petroleos de Venezuela (PdVSA) reported ab......

BMI View: Ecuador's upstream sector will experience very modest growth in the remainder of the decade, but its downstream sector could see transformation from being a net importer of refined products to a significant exporter of refined products by 2017. The key trends and developments in Ecuador's oil and gas sector are: ? Oil production will grow through 2018, but gains will be incremental, offset by natural depreciation rates at the country's mature fields. Moreover, a poor above ground envir......
  • Japan Oil and Gas Report Q4 2014
Published: 20-Aug-2014        Price: US $1295 Onwards        Pages: 133
BMI View: New legislation intended to streamline the refining sector saw around 400,000 barrels per day (b/d) of Japan's refining capacity taken offline. We forecast weak refined product demand to offer limited future prospects for the sector. We forecast the first nuclear power plants to return to the Japanese grid before the end of 2014, reducing the need for fossil fuel imports. The mild summer has also tempered LNG demand and softened import costs. That said, we expect liquefied natural gas ......
