Romania Oil and Gas Report Q3 2013

Publisher Name :
Date: 05-Jun-2013
No. of pages: 108

BMI View: The exploration efforts of ExxonMobil and OMV Petrom in the Black Sea could signal a turning
point in Romania's upstream outlook, helping reduce dramatically the country's gas import dependency
from around 2018. International oil company (IOC) interest in Romania is now on the rise and, if exploited
by the government, could result in much higher investment levels. Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta
ha said that he supports shale gas exploration in the country, bringing hope to Chevron and other IOCs
keen to investigate the country's significant shale gas potential.
The main trends and developments for Romania's oil and gas sector are:
? Chevron has reaffirmed its commitment to developing Romania's shale gas resources following the
country's rejection of a moratorium on shale gas exploration. The US group is the only holder of shale
exploration licences in the country. The Romanian government officially cancelled a moratorium on
shale gas exploration as it seeks to develop new sources of domestic production in order to counter both
an imminent decline in the country's reserves and its growing dependency on Russian natural gas imports.

  • Azerbaijan Oil and Gas Report Q3 2016
Published: 04-May-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 81
BMI View: Our outlook on Azeri oil is heavily bearish, with the major ACG fields falling deeper into decline. Investments to stabilise output will help soften the fall; however, with a lack of new discoveries brought online this will be insufficient to reverse the overall trend. In contrast, we remain bullish on the prospects for Azeri gas, underpinned by large-scale new production from Shah Deniz. Prospects on the downstream remain poor, with ageing and low complexity in......
  • Bolivia Oil and Gas Report Q3 2016
Published: 04-May-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 79
BMI View: Upstream investment in Bolivia continues at steady levels, but weak reserves growth of both oil and gas persists, creating long-term uncertainty for production and exports. The fall in global oil prices has led to sharp reductions in earnings from oil-indexed gas sales to Argentina and Brazil, on whom Bolivia is entirely dependent for exports. Continued investment in projects to monetise domestic gas resources as through increased local consumption in the reside......
  • Cambodia and Laos Oil and Gas Report Q3 2016
Published: 04-May-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 47
BMI View: Being a frontier region for oil and gas exploration, Cambodia does not have any proven reserves or production. A deferral of development at KrisEnergy's Block A, which is the most progressive development in the country, prompted us to remove our forecast of 80mn bbl of proven oil reserves in 2016 and for first oil in 2018. The Cambodian government confirmed that exploration is inactive in licensed areas, which reinforces our bearish outlook for Cambodia's upstre......
  • Chad Oil and Gas Report Q3 2016
Published: 04-May-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 62
BMI View: The ramping up of production from Glencore and China National Petroleum Corporation's new fields will support production increases in 2016 and 2017. Post 2017 there will be a gradual decline in output as a poor project pipeline is unable to offset the falling production rates at the mature Doba field. Despite large proven reserves and pipeline infrastructure in place, BMI believes that the poor business environment and extraction problems that the consortium is ......
  • Ecuador Oil and Gas Report Q3 2016
Published: 04-May-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 84
BMI View: Ecuador's upstream sector will suffer from the broader industry downturn through the remainder of the decade, but its downstream sector is likely to shift to net exporter status by 2018. We hold a modest growth outlook for the country as a result of increasingly limited upstream prospects and continued uncertainty regarding the future of Ecuador's largest untapped oil field. Latest Updates and Key Forecasts: ? We have upgraded our forecast for Ecuadorian l......
  • Global Oil and Gas Report Q3 2016
Published: 04-May-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 63
BMI View: We are bullish on global natural gas given the strong export project pipeline over the next five years and a growing shift towards lower carbon fuels consumption, in both emerging and developed markets. Weak oil prices are limiting investment in oil projects outside the Middle East, which will emerge stronger over the next five years as oil demand grows. Key global market trends this quarter include: ? Oil majors switch from mega projects to smaller and mo......
  • Japan Oil and Gas Report Q3 2016
Published: 04-May-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 69
BMI View: Slow economic growth, negative demographic trends and the growing prominence of nuclear and renewables energy will curtail Japan's long-term consumption of refined fuels and LNG. The aggressive government-led consolidation drive in the refining sector poses significant downside risk to our refining capacity forecasts, though improving run rates and more flexible production slates will allow Japan to see a small surplus in refined fuels from 2016. Latest Up......
  • Myanmar Oil and Gas Report Q3 2016
Published: 04-May-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 74
BMI View: Myanmar's nascent yet growing oil and gas sector is set to be the subject of intense investor interest over the coming years, with several firms having already announced their intention to establish a foothold in the country's downstream sector. Rising demand and export obligations will entail LNG imports, though any delays and cancellations to proposed projects increase risk of a gas shortage. Latest Updates And Key Forecasts ? Crude oil and liquids produ......
  • Russia Oil and Gas Report Q3 2016
Published: 04-May-2016        Price: US 1295 Onwards        Pages: 131
BMI View: Oil production continues to outperform as a weak rouble allows for maintained capex and lower operating costs. Gas production, which underperformed in 2015, will improve as domestic and foreign demand pick up. The main trends and developments we highlight for Russia's oil & gas sector are: ? Crude and condensate production averaged 10.9mn b/d in Q116, up from 10.7mn b/d in Q115. We forecast production to increase from 2015 and remain largely flat to 2018.......
