Advanced energy storage is an important element with respect to the future electrical needs and energy efficiency measures. Conventionally, electricity is consumed soon after being generated as there are no effective technologies to store electricity in the required quantities. With emerging technologies, this phenomenon is improving with continuously improved energy densities and capital costs. Although, pumped hydro storage technology, which is more than 100 years old and by far the most prominent of all available technologies, is operational across the world, itstill depends on the availability of natural resources (water bodies) for being set up limiting the scope of application.

Numerous technologies, other than pumped hydro storage with different capabilities, are now in the market with continuous research and development in progress. These include compressed air energy storage, batteries, supercapacitors, fuel cells, and flywheels. Emerging and developing technologies include hydrogen storage, super magnets and synthetic gas.

Pumped hydro storage technology, relatively, has longer discharge times and longer life, and are hence more widely used in the grid storage for load balancing and peak shaving. Similarly, NaS batteriesare also used for load balancing and time sharing. Other systems, such as flywheels, that have shorter discharge times are used in frequency regulation on the grid. Also, the advancement of lithium-ion batteries, in terms of cost reduction and efficiency improvement, is driving the electric vehicles market, globally.

Globally, the advanced energy storage systems market, including grid storage and transportation, is expected to grow at a CAGR of 10% in the next five years and reach $10.3 billion by 2018. The key growth drivers being, growing renewable energy source implementation all over the world, new transmission and distribution grid construction and upgrade across major countries, smart grid installation, and encouraging demand for electric and hybrid vehicles in most of the developed and developing countries.

The ‘Advanced Energy Storage Systems Market’ report highlights and classifies important technologies in the market. It also briefs out energy storage market by key applications as grid storage and transportation and classifies it by geography into Asia-Pacific, Europe, North America, and ROW regions. It presents the current and projected markets of grid storage, battery storage and supercapactiors. • Nigeria Power Report Q2 2015
Published: 18-Mar-2015        Price: US $1295 Onwards        Pages: 70
BMI View: A victory for the PDP in Nigeria's 2015 presidential election would give incumbent Goodluck Jonathan's power sector reform efforts a shot in the arm. A win would enable Jonathan to proceed with his plans to liberalise the sector and plug a yawning capacity deficit. It might also reinvigorate plans to tackle gas shortages - the threat to the power sector. The Nigerian power market will present significant opportunities for bold investors over our 10-year forecast period - underpinn......
  • Nordics Renewables Report Q2 2015
Published: 18-Mar-2015        Price: US $1295 Onwards        Pages: 51
BMI View: This quarter we have extended our forecast to 2024. This notwithstanding, our projections for non-hydropower renewable energy generation in Denmark, Finland and Sweden are largely unchanged, as our fundamental assumption for the Nordic markets considered in the report remain unvaried. Key projects in the region continue to progress in line with our expectations, with Denmark's progressive loss of its energy self-sufficient status likely to lead the country to a greater focus on the pro......
  • Peru Oil and Gas Report Q2 2015
Published: 18-Mar-2015        Price: US $1295 Onwards        Pages: 112
BMI View: While the Peruvian government has been trying to garner investor interest in the country's upstream potential, we believe that lack of below-ground prospectivity, a history of strong environmental opposition and a highly competitive regional market will be the key factors diminishing the attractiveness of country's oil and gas industry over the coming years. The main developments in the Peruvian oil and gas sector: ? In February 2015, Argentine oil company Pluspetrol announced about it......
  • Philippines Renewables Report Q2 2015
Published: 18-Mar-2015        Price: US $1295 Onwards        Pages: 43
BMI View: As energy demands continue to rise in the Philippines and fear of electricity shortfalls for the summer 2015 remain, the market has attracted a multitude of new projects - especially in the wind, solar and biomass sectors. While the geothermal energy market is largely saturated, we see the greatest potential for investors and growth in the wind, solar and biomassse sectors. However, increasing domestic coal production and the construction of new coal power plants question the scale of ......
  • Saudi Arabia Oil and Gas Report Q2 2015
Published: 18-Mar-2015        Price: US $1295 Onwards        Pages: 128
BMI View: Low domestic gas prices and limited foreign participation will continue to weigh on Saudi Arabia's non-associated gas development. Oil production will see incremental growth, as the kingdom looks to meet rising demand domestically and maintain stable export volumes. Fuels consumption will see strong growth, supported by increased domestic refinery output and a high level of subsidisation; however, gas consumption will remain heavily constrained by limitations in the domestic supply. In......
  • Global Heat Exchanger Market 2015-2019
Published: 18-Mar-2015        Price: US $2500 Onwards        Pages: 89
A heat exchanger is a mechanical device that transfers thermal energy from one medium to another. The two media are separated by a partition to prevent them from coming into contact with each other. Heat exchangers are widely used in industrial applications such as refrigeration, air conditioning, sewage treatment, and natural gas processing. The best example of a heat exchanger is the classic internal combustion engine. The engine coolant flows in a circular motion through the radiator coils. A......

Published: 18-Mar-2015        Price: US $1295 Onwards        Pages: 47
BMI View: The immediate outlook for electricity generation is poor with the country in an official state of energy emergency. Fighting in the east of Ukraine has halted coal production in many mines, and HAS blocked transport lines to power stations. At the same time, Russia and Ukraine are in dispute about the price to be paid for gas deliveries, which will limit Ukraine's ability to fire its gas-powered stations. Although Ukraine is increasing its generation of nuclear energy, we still for......

BMI View: Australia is set to become a major player in the global liquefied natural gas (LNG) market by the end of the decade. However, we see waning investment sentiment, which will slow growth momentum. The country will also have to contend with a growing reliance on oil imports as domestic crude oil production experiences weak growth while refining outlook is bleak in face of regional competition. The main trends and developments we highlight for Australia's oil and gas sector are: ? Crude oi......

Published: 18-Mar-2015        Price: US $1295 Onwards        Pages: 138
BMI View: Low natural gas prices, increasingly stringent EPA emissions regulations and strong growth in solar and wind generation will all lead to the displacement of coal in the US electricity generation mix. As the switch to gas and renewables gathers pace, hydropower and nuclear power will see only limited growth. Investment in gas pipeline infrastructure will be needed to overcome gas supply bottlenecks and the grid will need to be upgraded to ensure it can handle the influx of intermitt......
